About Bark Training Company
Our story
At the heart of my training philosophy is a simple but effective and powerful idea: effective training starts with understanding. Dogs communicate constantly through body language, behavior, and energy. And when owners learn to recognize and interpret these signals, everything changes. Instead of relying on guess work or frustration, you gain clarity and confidence. Our goal is to teach you how your dog thinks and learns, so you can build a relationship based on trust, consistency and clear communication.
I place a strong emphasis on mastering the basics. Foundational skills like leash manners, recall, focus, and impulse control are not just “starter behaviors”. They are the building blocks for everything else your dog will learn. By developing these core skills properly, you create a reliable framework that makes advanced training smoother and more successful. Just as importantly, I show you how to apply these basics in real life situations, so your dog can succeed both at home and out in the world.
Proper socialization is another key pillar of my approach. It is not just about exposing your dog to new people, places and other animals - it’s about doing so in a thoughtful/structured way that builds a positive experience. When done correctly, socialization helps prevent fear, anxiety, and reactivity while encouraging calm, confident behavior. I will guide you through this process step by step, ensuring your dog learns how to navigate the world safely and comfortably.
Ultimately, my mission is to build confidence on both ends of the leash. When you understand your dog and have the tools to guide him, you naturally feel more capable and in control. At the same time, your dog gains confidence through clear direction, positive experience, and consistent leadership. The result is a strong bond, better behavior, and a strong partnership you can truly enjoy.
Meet the Trainer
From the moment I brought home my first dog breed book, I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to working with dogs. As a kid, I dreamed of racing in the Iditarod, but everything truly changed when I got my first dog. Training and showing him sparked a passion that has shaped my career ever since. From that point on, I knew dog training was exactly what I wanted to do.
I began training my first dog at the age of 15 and soon entered the world of dog shows, where I gained valuable hands-on experience. Over the years, I've worked with a wide variety of dogs, including service dogs, farm dogs, reactive dogs, family companions, and puppies. I spent many years as a professional trainer with an established training company, helping owners build stronger relationships with their dogs through effective communication and practical training. Eventually, I chose to start my own business so I could reach more owners and provide personalized training that helps both people and dogs succeed.
Today, I share my home with a German Shepherd and a Rough Collie, who continue to inspire me and remind me why I love what I do. My goal is to help every owner build a confident, well-mannered dog through consistency, structure, and a training approach that sets both ends of the leash up for success.
